Helpful Hints for Gathering Your 2004 Tax
Information
- If you purchased, sold or refinanced real property in 2004,
please provide the final closing statement.
- If you invest in mutual funds, keep the mutual fund’s
annual statements. If the mutual fund reinvests the dividends,
the records are needed to calculate the cost basis in the mutual
fund shares. Reinvested dividends increase your basis and reduce
the gain on the sale.
Exciting E-Filing News –We are waiving
our $25 e-filing fee for the 2004 tax season to encourage everyone
to e-file. E-filing results in faster refunds, less paper and no
standing in line at the post office. Your refund may be deposited
directly to the account you specify or mailed to you. Taxpayers
with balances due can still e-file by having funds transferred electronically,
paying by credit card, or mailing the payment by the tax due date.
